Yeah Perthy, automation and mechanics/hydraulics sure have changed the way we work....
Sure it's safer, but to me it's really ruined what was a hard man's job...
Throwing tongs, setting slips , working the monkey boards, riding the brake, tailing pipe, hand connections, man riding, hands on lifting, etc etc required strength and skill sets lost to today's offshore workers.
Roughnecks these days put on plastic protectors and dope pipe, the rest of the time they watch the machines work... if things go wrong they don't have the first clue what to do....
A whole new type of spoiled, weak, non skilled, no heart, whiney little b!#ches now have jobs...
I would hate to be around them when the shit hits the fan..
