What this drop says about the stockmarket is that as it pertains to share price, fundamentals don't matter a damn or matter very little.

Short sellers have got this game stitched up. They know that since 2008 the market shits its pants every time a negative headline appears in the media. And how often do we read negative headlines even when fundamentals look great... That in itself has to offer you a clue to what's going on doesn't it?

The truly unfortunate part of all of this is that these jackals have changed the entire psychology of the market. No one wants to hold long anymore... Who would when you have to keep your eye on the shareprice of the stock you hold daily - no, nearly hourly... This type of crap drains you, wears you down, leaves you disheartened and feeling threatened and is precisely why the government temporarily banned short selling the banks at the beginning of the GFC.

At the risk of repeating myself, unless our government looks at regulation to control new market conditions (such as High Frequency Trading), and short selling, retail shareholders are going to vanish. And that is happening already. One only needs look at bank deposits to see it.
