Who is "they" and why are they "trying to push it down"?
I worked on the buy side in a previous life and I can promise you that this whole pushing down to buy cheap is largely a fantasy propagated by stock brokers to losing clients.
The mistake you make is thinking the big guys in this game actually know where things are going.
