MonkeyChief where (and when) did you get that stat that 55% of the worlds cobalt comes from Nickel by-product??.

These are just top of my head figures here but ie been reading up alot recently.

About 70%-75% of the worlds (115,000 tons of cobalt) produced last yeare came from DRC (and Zambia)and from what I understand they are all mainly Copper-by product mines.(but some have nickel credits)- and direct artisanal production.
78,000 tons

The latterite and Nickel mines are in Cuba/Russia/New Caledonia/Canada/ Madagascar/New Guniea - plus half over half the Aussie onesand one in the Pines- but they only produced around 28 k tons between them of them all last year.

so last year around 75 k tons came from Copper by product and 28k from Nickel by product- 3k pure- 10k from artisanal in DRC.

Im busy today and cant do the exact reserach now, but maybe you can or someone else can. Becuase Ive seen this discrepancy in these figures a few times now and we need to pin it down as it does have a big potential bearing on the CLA share price.

But im more in Rastus's camp. Its all cyclical. But Nickel is going to be needed more.

The batteries for the 2+ mill EV cars alone expected to be sold next year will absorb most of that nickel by product Co. by themselves. never mind the rest of the Co market.
