IMO dividend is now likely to fall since the government is no longer a major shareholder and Future Fund is also getting out.
In past Telstra was actually borrowing money to maintain its high dividends Since their profit went south recently, I would not be counting on the same level of dividend. Normal company will reduce dividend when profits fall and increase when profit rises. Telstra was pressured by its largest shareholder (the government) to pay much higher dividend than would be commercial.
I guess government was trying to appease mums and dads who bought shares from government at $5 and the SP went south since.
