It changes the way that funds (and others) look at MAD.
ASX300 = less (Note: percieved) risk than out of the ASX300
ASX200 = less risk again
ASX100 = the least amount of risk
..........and so on
It opens the door to new investors...
Fund rules (in some cases) limit the amount of 'risky' (read out of ASX300) stock that can be bought into a fund.
So, where we had a fund manager wanting to buy more MAD for that portfolio yesterday couldn't, now can because his goalposts have moved.
