If they were close to a deal for Hep B do you think Benitec would be ‘gambling’ on the outcome (as you suggested) or remaining very tight-lipped? The fact that they are ‘capitalising’ on the discussions they may be having suggests those discussions are still preliminary or ongoing. If they were close the potential new partner may not appreciate the disclosure or Benitec’s opportunistic raise on the back of the negotiations.
Another thing is that Hep B has been on the shelf for a year now. They published the research last November.
In Melbourne tonight, the International HVB conference was underway at the Exhibition centre. Benitec was not represented. You would think if they had something to contribute they would be there.
