Given the news over the last few weeks, I would agree with you. The question is, "What?" We've seen this kind of activity several times in the past. Investors fall for the BS that is generated by our management and end up getting burnt. History proves that whatever previous sophisticated investors based their decisions on ultimately proved to be incorrect. Is the latest CR more of the same? If it is, then nothing can be deduced from the news. If it is not BS, then what could it be, given that OPMD is miles away from making money for shareholders?
The only possible scenario that I think could fit the bill is that Benitec has started negotiations with a partner re HBV. The news has selectively leaked and some people have been prepared to gamble on the outcome. Benitec, not confident of the outcome, has decided to get some money while it can.
