What I find most disturbing is that this story has not so much as raised any eyebrows.

Hyper partisanship has normalised what once was considered outrageous behaviour.

Ethical standards have not dropped so much as that they have completely dissolved in a morass that once was referred to as politics.

I am not writing this to promote any other political party but rather want to highlight what the disappearance of mainstream media has done in terms of holding our politicians to account.

Shrill voices on social media are no substitute for traditional quality journalism.

When mainstream media ownership becomes too concentrated in the hands of a few, it does have long term consequences for the entire society.

.... and life is not so simple that it can be analysed in 140 character staccato bites.
