I think you will find it's more widespread than Murdoch.
And why would Murdoch fear the ABC? I would think he has a far larger audience.
More likely, the ABC is hurting the likes of Fairfax competing for the leftie audience. Fairfax has to finance themselves while lefties can watch the ABC free of charge and ad free.
