"John Alexander is expected to announce this afternoon that he has been able to renounce British citizenship.
There have been concerns the Bennelong Liberal candidate who had to resign as an MP over citizenship concerns would not be able to renounce his ability to acquire British citizenship in time for the nomination date for the seat on November 23.
Mr Alexander is facing stiff competition for the seat, which he holds by 9.5 per cent, with Former premier Kristina Keneally running for Labor for the December 16 by-election
The news comes amid revelations Cory Bernardi is threatening to run his own candidate and bleed votes from the Liberal Party and Alexander in the Bennelong by-election in Sydney — a seat that was split on same sex marriage and voted No in the government’s postal survey.
The Australian Conservatives Leader said he intended to run a candidate in the by-election because he was being urged to do so by supporters who no longer felt their interests were being represented by the Liberal party."

Onya Cory. Now we will see if there is any genuine support for the AusCons.

Put Alexander last on your how-to-vote cards.
