Ah ha! I see the GetUp drones have surfaced here. So here are the reason why burkas must be banned
1) In France it's banned because it's an overt religious symbol. Which it is. It's a uniform in much the same way bikies wear their Colours. To Intimidate!
2) It puts an inordinate amount of pressure on a young Muslim girl who does not want to cover up. She has no way of resisting the family pressure. Eventually, because of the burka she will be segregated from the rest of society and Never assimilate.
3) I ride a motorcycle, I gave to remove my helmet when I stop at a service station to refuel. They will not turn on the pumps until the helmet is off. Is this equal treatment?
No. 2 Is the main reason, if we allow a group of people segregate themselves from the rest of society we are only encouraging ghettos.
