JK5, you seem to have hit the nail on the head. The DOW is made up of 30 securities. These securities are not even the 30 highest market capped, but represent something of Americanism.
To simply jump on the bandwagon and constantly relay a positive day just because the DOW is up makes no sense. The value of the business will rise based on the performance of the business over the long run. Short term swings based on market mood allows investors to enter at irrational prices if they consider the prospects of the business favourable over the long term.
WBC had been fantasticly managed by Dr Morgan. Gail Kelly will do the same. My preffered bank is NAB but WBC is way up there. It goes to show, joining in on the fad may bring short term prospects during boom time (jumping in on the CDOs when popular); BUT in the long run its the patient and well disciplined that win in the end.
