    I started with Aussie service EasyForex but the spreads were ridiculous..

    Go with one of the US broker. Its worth the hassle of getting set up.

    I think for the beginner Oanda is best. 1 pip spreads on the EURUSD and the most leverage they offer I think is 50:1 so you cannot get into too much strife...
