I think we can put that favourable rise in comparison to our peers down to the perfectly timed buy back by management at the lows. Just before the gold price really bounced from $1600usd. The buy back really flushed out a lot of that dead wood selling/shorting positions holding us down. It is now a more tightly held register. Our peers are yet to have that luxury and are more prone to shorts and instos playing games.
