I have been investing in gold mining companies and precious metals since 2014. It has been a gigantic emotional roller coaster which feels like it has had a lot more downs than ups.
I can’t remember the number of times I have felt acute frustration with the share price of my miners. When I do, I tend to buy more shares. I also imagine I’m in a rodeo riding a wild bull. I tell myself to hang on, no matter what. The harder it becomes, the more determined I am not to let go.
I remind myself that I’m lucky to have such a supportive wife, and that the wild swings in the value of my miners is pretty much a first world problem. I know fundamentally that I am on the right path. I remind myself also that even at today’s (arguably depressed) prices, my gold stocks are worth a healthy multiple of what they cost me, and that they’re also worth over 50% more than they were worth at the start of this financial year.
I’m replying to your post but I’m talking to myself in saying this.
A thread relating to another company in which I have shares proposes to have a celebratory get together of regular posters once that company’s share price reaches a certain (high) level. I’d be delighted to do the same with NST. I think we all will have earned a few beers by then.
