Auctions continue to tumble

There was no sign of a come back from the Australian residential auction market last week, as clearance rates continue to fall, according to the Australian Property Monitors.

Last Saturday, 151 properties went under the hammer in Sydney, 50 properties were sold, representing a clearance rate of 40.5%.

The total value of properties sold in Sydney was $26.2 million. The dearest property was sold by goodyerDonnelly Real Estate in Tamarama for $3.2 million, while the cheapest property was sold by Raine & Horne Penrith in Kingwood for $201,000.

In Melbourne 247 properties listed for auction, 111 properties were sold, resulting in a clearance rate of 54.4%.

Last Saturday, the total value of properties sold in Melbourne was $32.6 million. The dearest property was sold by Marshall White Real Estate Armadale in Toorak for $1.54 million, the cheapest property was sold by Burnham Real Estate Footscray in Footscray for $165,500.

In Adelaide, 46 properties went under the hammer, 19 properties were sold, representing a clearance rate of 48.7%.

The total value of properties sold was $5.6 million. The dearest property was sold by Klemich Real Estate in Beaumont for $825,000, while the cheapest property was sold by Toop & Toop in Glenelg North for $235,000.
