ARe you in it for the long or short term?
Property is a bit like the sharemarket
Some areas can have spectacular growth over 1-2 years, or even more, while others will have strong growth over the long term...i prefer the latter category, and the equivalent of the share market would be blue chips.
In the latter category, I have two investment properties, one in North Carlton and one in Elwood.
In other words I prefer properties in areas that have shown strong growth over consistent period of time...other examples would be:
Toorak, Brighton, Kew, Hawthorn, Malvern, Sandringham.
If you want more short term spectacular growth, then best to go coastal in an area that hasnt yet had a run or which has lagged the others.
