If people are interested in geothermal, they should check out CKK, who are testing a new drill rig capable of drilling through 3km of granite at a fraction of the cost of rivals, dramatically decreasing the up front costs of geothermal projects. It got half way through a test hole in Merredin when it hit an undergroud aquifer and was then pulled off to perform a commercial job for Woodside. Is back on site now and due to post results by mid-feb.

If this tech is as good as touted it will absolutely slash the cost of geothermal drilling and potentially make the whole sector more viable. Obviously DYOR but looks interesting.
