That's incorrect I think. The last PE offer was less than 2 years ago at $36 and it was turned down by the board. PPT then sank to less than $20 (having run up to around $28 ahead of the offer). This move looks a bit similar to me ... I also think this could be buying ahead of an offer in the 40s .. but we will see.
Even though PPT has had some positive news lately with the cost cutting and asset sales as well as growing super inflows and an improving market ... the current run of almost 100% seesm hard to justify on these alone.
Just my opinion/guess.
