Depends what the intent of QE3 is? To buy more US bonds? In the past year or so the US has purchased 70 % of its own bonds. China is not a buyer and a seller recently. Japan had the quake and are not buying. They are the top 2. If QE3 happens, or something of the sort, then commodities will charge as the currency is further debased. All other things will depreciate in comparison such as housing as this does not move in lock step with currency fluctuations unlike commodities.

Also when Ben Bernanke speaks he is talking to the bond market nearly always. The bond market is 100 times bigger than the stock market. Also the bond markets are the creditors of the US. Ben has mentioned easing is a possibility in my opinion to re-assure the bond market that they will be paid.
