If you look at the US, the destruction of wealth over the past couple of years has been immense. For example, Gen x households have lost 54.4 percent of their wealth. Across all age groups it was 38%.

Naturally anyone that had exposure to the housing bubble, or worse, was leveraged into the bubble, came out scared.

The way I figure, if you were in the US and managed to preserve your capital over the past couple of years, then you will be about 38 percent more wealthy today than the rest of the pack.
