Sandy, informative post however I disagree with one of your points.
1) around the time the market opens switch off any distractions. your focus should be solely on the market.
In fact I thoroughly enjoy a red day, as its very easy to make quick bucks on a bounce trade when an oversold price is reached. Maybe avoid low volume days, that's where I get hurt!
Trying to get something out of the market which is doesn't have to offer can be costly!
Each to their own though, if you stick to your rules 90% of the time you will be successful. And if one of those rules is not to trade on a red day, then stick to it!
