I'm sure the large amounts bought and sold were bought by the GDXJ ETF as this was the first day on entry to the ETF.
The holding allocation of DEG represent .04% of the ETF.
I think that that holding may be a bit higher when trade opens Monday (US time).
If not then yes, it was some other institutional buyers
