It is not a foregone conclusion that a new entrant (even a large multinational) can match Woolies (in particular) for efficiency. Woolies are world-class by any FMCG metric you care to name, and they are getting better each day.
But even if one or more new players manage to establish competitive operations, this can only mean one thing : Even lower prices and fewer reasons to shop anywhere but the large supermarket chains.
