impose a 20% tax on any property that is to be leased/rented out within 2 years from purchase settlement date; that would have an immediate affect by restricting the available funds to investors who are dominating the first-home buyers' market. Personally, I don't see why anyone needs to own 50 houses!
In a nutshell - investors will still be able to have their cake; they just won't be able to eat it on their terms any more. They can buy their property and pay the mortgage like those who reside in their purchase, and then can proceed to rent it out after 2 years.
I'm a home owner and have a share in an investment property but I try to be subjective enough to know a problem when I see one
