The current system IS trying to punish those who are trying to get a roof over their heads at prices that won't bury them in debt. Also, buying shares is not denying anyone from a home; if anything, it adds to their wealth if they have any super. Nothing wrong with my half-baked idea, as you can keep the negative gearing.
