Better than 50% chance of success?, page-30

Just to emphasise why I think the 50:50 statement relates more or less wholly to us being able/unable to physically fracture the rock effectively is based on the only 2 down-beat statements that I have heard Dave and Paul make:

These statements are said in relation to finding the last piece and in relation to a question about the famous 50% chance of success.

Dave Wall when asked whether the well design changes the 50:50 assessment:

"The well design will help it flow, but it doesn't tell us if it is going to flow, and whether the fractures are going to remain open, and how the rocks going to behave, and all those things we will never understand until we actually drill the well".


Paul Basinski - 9th Sept Presentation:

"We are closer in the tic-tac-toe board to the last step, but at the end of the day, if we can't stimulate it, if we can't keep it open and we can't keep it propped, then we've got a problem".


Been out most the day - so now it's time for me to understand fracking success rates, common issues, and if fracking is actually just a case of trial and error, or if major problems occur with fracking that cause the total abandonment of a well. Happy Easter to all.
