shepo, "This country is doing just fine at the present. Why change it?"
Well, you see, some people just don't think that it's doing "just fine." Others, again, want it to do even "finer." And yet others are sick at the sighte of the smug smirkers, the shrunken hearts, the religious right mentality, the '50s life views of the Coalition; as well as the fact that it is a Coalition and not a single party. Others again, just want to give the country a fresher, more envigorating philosophy. I agree, it doesn't mean they're gonna get it with any other party but at least, they'll try and have a go. Leaving things as they are -for many folk- is like courting corruption.
But, the bottom line is, it's just another election. Both sides are desparate to win power and what you'll see on TV, read in the press (and on forums) hear on radio and in the cafes is a bunch of tricky words and conjurer's tricks, commensurate with their desperation. And, once again, the "voice of the people" will be given a flimsy airing -and made to shut up again for another three years.
