When we started Megaport just over 5 years ago it was a simple premise. People will start buying network and connectivity the same way they were then buying compute. Virtualised, on-demand and-as-a-service. So we started paddling with the worlds first 100% SDN and API driven interconnection platform.

Today Gary Wojtaszek from CyrusOne made the following quote during his investor presentation:

“We are seeing more and more customers acquire access to clouds via SDN solutions like what Megaport offers, which enable customers to bypass the need to establish a point of presence in very expensive traditional network hubs. Our business with Megaport has nearly tripled over the past year, highlighting this powerful trend.”

Wow. We have experienced 20% QoQ growth last quarter our customer roster is now almost at 1,200 worldwide, traffic is off-the-hook and this is only the beginning. It really is. Megaport Cloud Router (MCR) that was a “concept” has blown our socks off and is now rushing towards MCR 2.0 on a new (tbc).

IBM bought Red Hat for a staggering US$34B to get serious about a Hyrid/Multicloud fortunately we are smack in the middle of this helping amazing customers get easy access to their clouds. Great team, great customers and great partners. #cloudcomputing #sdn
