While you may question the objectivity fo the FDA (personally, I don't), it is difficult to extend the argument to our own TGA who do not have any axe to grind and who have made their own evaluation on aspartame.

You will find that there are idiosyncratic reactions (certain individuals who have a bad reaction to a particular substance) to just about any drug you care to name.

It seems to me that some of these reactions have been blown up out of all proportion to support the interests of the holistic medicine groups.

I am far from being an apologist for the pharmaceutical industry but lets try to maintain a sense of scientific objectivity here.
