I got this way of thinking from Peter Lynch
He said that a lot of companies waste money or lose it on ill conceived mergers and acquisitions
Silverlake has made some smart M&As which proved to be profitable
Peter Lynch always liked share buybacks because it
undilultes the share pool and adds to investors sentiment in a positive way ( And I’m certainly not condoning them spending all the cash reserves)
I also like the very low risk factor in buying back their own shares
To sum up I strongly disagree that it makes the company look like they don’t know what to do with all that cash
