Don't forget @MarsC, NZR get to head up the negotiations for SANZAAR rights in New Zealand, but that is it.
Each SANZAAR partner leaders negotiations for their domestic audience.
But in terms of OVERSEAS rights (i.e any country outside SANZAAR nations) the negotiations are done with SANZAAR only.
So SilverLake would not have any advantages for overseas rights just because they own a slide of NZR I don't think. They would have to compete for the rights to stream on the open market.
They could do that now without owning a piece of NZR. And maybe they intend to, who knows.
But I don't think the tie-up between SL and NZR in and of itself is anything for RP to be worried about.
The tie-up is more of a threat to Sky for the NZ negotiations. But, as outlined previously, I have serious doubts about them going it alone OTT.
