It's not looking good quite frankly, with three out of four americans distrusting China ( rightly or wrongly). Trump calling biden, beijing biden. A largely ignorant lower class in america ( the majority ), more focused on making a living than what's really going on outside their borders. IMO, the ingredients are there for further escalation , it won't take much more.
