"Do we really think German engeniers are that stupid to not factor in the temperature of a plant operating in a dessert. "

    Stranger things have happened.

    - major coal seam gas project left their construction materials in a flood plain, didn't move them when a flood was forecast, didn't move them after the flood drained away, left them to rust for months, then incurred construction delays due to rust damage.

    - another large ASX company tried commercialisting some of their process technology. but placed their career operators in charge of engineering projects. Sales went out and promised the moon to clients. Operators failed to deliver engineering in their projects, shipped equipment to site and constructors called out the obvious lack of engineering to enable construction + operations.

many more stories of obvious dumb things. shit happens.

That said, good engineers can solve problems and a board would be likely quietly replacing staff who can't solve the problem with those who can, while maintaining a straight face telling the market they are solving the problem(s).

It's very unlikely this will be allowed to fail as the supplies have a critical multiplier effect on the rest of the economy.
