Initial gas flows from testing could have been called "new field " found at Bezzeca.They didn't I suspect the rationale was they want a perception that this is a redevelopment of a old field (which for the most it is) therefore low risk compared to new discovery higher risk/wildcatting.
ENI from my understanding only found gas in the pliocene levels whereas the first seam tested was miocene a seam that was deeper. Initial pressures appear to indicate that the gas has never been tapped before. If this proves to be true then the reserves for Bezzaca will rise assuming the pliocene levels behave as expected. This is a field that was drilled in the wildcat days of the 50's and until PVE gained the concession no modern siesmic/drilling techniques were used hence the reason why PVE is so bold on the reserves and development of this field. Good news continued to accumulate.
