The company also completed a bankable feasibility study for platinum junior Nkwe Platinum?s Garatau platinum project, in the Bushveld Complex, earlier this year. 
Draft evaluation results for Nkwe, which were presented to the client in January, identified shortfalls in the project?s financial performance.

TWP consequently embarked on a value-
engineering exercise aimed at enhancing 
designs, costs and efficiencies to improve the project?s financial performance. The company ran sensitivity studies on the project?s internal rate of return to capital 
expenditure (capex), operational expenditure and revenue, and increased the nameplate production to 300 000 t/m from both the 
150 Merensky and 150 UG2 reefs.


The process plant layout was changed from a double-stream to a single-stream throughput of 300 000 t/m. The shafts and all infrastructure remained the same.


The testwork is complete and the final 
reports have been submitted and were used to define the plant layout. 


The legal permit application process is in progress and the authorities for water and power provision have been engaged. Feasibility studies on the platinum supply are under way and environmental sensitivity studies are also in progress to finalise the environmental impact assessment and environ-
mental management programme report for the project.
