The Chinese must love the likes of BHP/RIO, OPEC, etc., and their production strategies:
i) Destroy the commodity price in $USD (makes it cheap for the Chinese to buy),
ii) Watch commodity producers share prices tumble (particularly in $USD terms),
iii) Creates the opportunity to cherry pick (in some cases for cents in the dollar) energy and mineral producers and their associated infrastructure using $4 trillion USD in reserves,
iv) Increases control over input prices (less likely to see price recovery in the future and therefore dampens future employment and asset returns),
v) Have a reduced need to build in places like WA again (not helped by massive cost overruns and time delays) unless a majority of workers speak Chinese (you just know this will be a condition for future Chinese investment in Australia),
vi) Continue to watch the likes of Australia export homes, farms, credibility, jobs, our kid's futures and so forth and have the pollies tell you that this is all very healthy in a "modern" economy.
Talking about financial greed trumping common bloody sense. Not that common bloody sense is all that bloody common anyway.
How very short-sighted is all of this???
