Also, many battery applications include multiple low voltage batteries (12 and 24vdc) linked in series or parallel to achieve a higher desired rectified voltage (I.e. 240vac). This is done to create a higher rated current capacity. Now because of the lower voltage / higher currents, it is also a requirement that the cables (copper conductors) , sometimes and often simply solid copper bars are much larger in physical size to be able to carry the higher currents without breaking down
