And now in the light (FULL GLARE) of BHP's announcement here is curiouswon's independent evaluation of the accuracy of curiouswon's prediction.
1. EPS
Prediction: EPS for the half year: 115cps
Actual: 60.2 cps
Evaluation: eeeerh well ....... I did say "no great analysis here" but clearly the company and Board has underperformed, NO actually what I meant was "Profit from Operations" which at USD$6.057B is USD 113.9cps - i.e. curiouswon was RIGHT ON THE MONEY
2. Dividend
Prediction: interim div: USD 18cps plus special div: USD 18cps i.e. USD 36cps total
Actual: USD40cps (which the Board expresses as minimum payout of 30cps and additional payout of 10cps)
Evaluation: Board has made distinction between regular and extra and has given shareholders a bit of both, as curiouswon predicted; Board has granted predicted div of 36cps and then exceeded it by 11% i.e. curiouswon was RIGHT ON THE MONEY (and gracious enough to allow Board to do a little better)
