Hi barnes,
when people talk about shorting a stock you have too options, covered short- where you hold the underlying stock but lend it out, or naked short - where you don't own the underlying stock but sell it (hoping the stock will go down and then purchase it back at a lower price). It is only possible to do this through cmc at the moment.
