BHP were quoted as looking for long life expandable assets. The recent drop in the market has made some of these more interesting. They already have major assets in Mozambique. The real link is that riversdale bought the RAC and ZAC coal assets from BHP a couple of years back. The coal price is on fire and riversdale Mozambique assets are the next "Bowen Basin'. its not hard to connect dots with this and BHP are going to spend money expanding their own coal assets. We also have CVRD next door, a major global steel partner and the biggest land holding in the coal basin. All this and the company is capped at less than $400m and due to get over $120m in cash in the can. The latest discounted valuation is close to $4 anyway and rivs are due to announce a major coal resource upgrade. This is me speculating of course, but if your looking for something the big Australian might be interested in buying, then this is a good start. dyor.
