Just wanted to give an update for those shareholders that are interested.
The replacement and upgrades of the furnace systems at Olympic Dam went well and looking good to start producing/smelting again.
Prior to these works the furnace systems looked beat up and stressed though I am not an engineer.
No big hiccups and overall mine looking productive, certainly requires full-time on-going maintenance judging by the looks of it.
The "gold room" is the most immaculate and well maintained section of the mine, it has high security fencing and cameras everywhere. BHP miners say the gold underground is enough to tank the price of gold to $1000 and it paid for the upgrades, they say ~500mil. They've shotcreted over the solid gold veins.
I only worked there during the shutdown and I got a sense of the importance BHP will play in the supply of copper & silver etc for the coming EV demand.
