If you're trying to convince me that renewable energy-profiting companies have funding tentacles into the thousands of climate change studies undertaken, you truly don't know much about the academic research scene. A more telling sign would be to look at which companies are funding politicians - hint, it's fossil fuel producing companies, not renewable energy companies.
I agree that renewable energy is not renewable from a purist definition. Similarly, it's not "clean", but merely "cleaner". When implemented properly, it's significantly more sustainable though.
