Market said it was better than expected.......however, BHP bought oil assets in the US last year which are now deem as bad assets as the oil price has halved since their purchase, and there is also the settlement from the trail dam disaster which will likely cost them more than 1B+ USD for their part (market thinks the settlement will be more than the 1B USD estimated).
