Wow , a really well written & well explained post ...and you are right if we sit on our hands nothing will be done..
Let's face it greed is blind to what's happening around themselves and egos are inflated more than a hot air ballon so the care factor what happens to Australia is zero ..
The funny thing is the government helps these companies out with approvals & ridding the mrt taxes which I thought myself was the best to do to encourage investment & create more jobs ...but rio / bhp have become a thorn in Australia's side...
So I guess our advantage is we live in a democratic country and maybe vote those in that will put the big companies in there place not the other way around ...
