    Over time India's growth will have a significant impact on world oil/gas consumption, base metals and possibly coal (think the Adani project in QLD), plus I think there would be a lot more iron production over time for rebuilding their cities and for infrastructure - I think it would be done at a slower pace than what happened in China. That would be better than what happened with the Chinese impact on the industry as it would underpin prices without (hopefully) causing excessive price gains to entice too many new entrants (and hence excess supply) into the mining sector.

    Of course I could be wrong. I understand that you can not have both India and China exporting the same products en mass to the west given the limited demand, and that India's economic structure may be less capital intensive than what China has achieved.
