They are $#!^ scared about something.

We should get the unions to apply pressure on Labor (and to stop SHORTEN playing bi-partisan political games and BACK the inquiry).

Australian Workers’ Union is calling on Premier Colin Barnett to put his money where his mouth is and back a full parliamentary inquiry into Rio Tinto’s predatory pricing of iron ore, which is tearing huge holes in the state’s economy and putting the future of WA employment at risk.
Speaking ahead of Rio’s AGM in Perth, AWU WA Branch Secretary Stephen Price said the union was willing to back Mr Barnett to the hilt if he used his position at COAG to push for an inquiry.
“It’s one thing for Colin Barnett to huff and puff about the damage Rio is doing to the WA economy, but he should put his money where is mouth is and join the AWU’s call for a parliamentary inquiry into their predatory pricing,” Mr Price said.
“Rio Tinto is flooding the iron ore market with supply while demand is falling. This is causing prices to fall dramatically and it is putting thousands of jobs at risk. We shouldn’t allow a multinational miner to use Australia’s natural resources to play dangerous games of brinkmanship with our economy.
“We know Rio’s default position is to treat its employees as disposable entities. And obviously they have zero respect for other Australian workers who are being affected across the economy.
“Sam Walsh should be hauled in front of the nation’s parliament and forced to explain why his company is treating the Australian economy as his plaything. And Colin Barnett should be pushing relentlessly to make that happen.
“We should not forget we are talking about Australia’s iron ore, and we have every right to extract its full economic value. It’s our largest export earner and if we allow Rio to deliberately sabotage the price that means less money for roads, schools and hospitals.”
