More recently, the ongoing uncertainty around the path of South West Creek towards development has led to reports of a move by the WA government to set a timeline for the new berth to be in development.
According to the reports, the government may look to strip Brockman and/or Atlas of their port allocation should they not have the port under construction by 2017.
In a statement to The Australian, Atlas chief executive Ken Brinsden said he did not plan to provide "a running commentary" on the issues around its port allocation.
"But I do think it is important to note that we are very happy with where we currently sit on all those matters," he said.
"We have no concerns about the security of our port allocation and we are confident that we will be able to combine this capacity with our extensive south-east Pilbara resources and a rail solution to deliver the next phase of our growth."
