    As a 30 plus year holder I have seen plenty of value destruction by BHP. The whole shale debacle being a prime example.
    I see these proceeds as a chance for BHP to right some wrongs. Personally I would like to see a split between a buy back and a special Div. Somewhere between .70 and $1 USD seems about right. This way all current holders get a pay day.
    Not just rewarding the big funds that love the buybacks only.
    As an added extra I think they should also consider an out of cycle payment. Perhaps even mid December.
    What will be will be but one can hope for at least a balanced approach to the distribution of these proceeds. GLTALTH.
